On June 27, 2026, Oasis Foundation had the privilege of joining the Sakha community in celebrating Yhyakh 2026, a cherished cultural festival held at 15430 E. Lake Goodwin Road, Stanwood, Washington. Surrounded by the beauty of the Pacific Northwest, approximately 150–200 community members gathered for a day dedicated to celebrating heritage, welcoming the summer season, and strengthening the bonds that connect people across cultures.
Yhyakh is one of the most important celebrations in Sakha culture. Traditionally observed as the beginning of a new season, the festival symbolizes renewal, gratitude, prosperity, and harmony with nature. More than a cultural event, Yhyakh is an opportunity for families, friends, and communities to come together, honor their traditions, and pass their heritage on to younger generations. Oasis Foundation was honored to participate in this meaningful celebration and to stand alongside a community dedicated to preserving its rich history and cultural identity.
Throughout the day, visitors had the opportunity to experience many beautiful aspects of Sakha culture. Guests explored colorful cultural displays featuring traditional clothing, handcrafted artwork, historical artifacts, and decorative pieces that reflected generations of craftsmanship and storytelling. Many attendees enjoyed learning about the significance behind traditional garments and ornaments while engaging in conversations with community members eager to share their culture and traditions.
The celebration also featured a wonderful selection of authentic Sakha cuisine. Traditional dishes and refreshments were prepared and shared with guests, offering everyone the opportunity to experience the flavors that have been passed down through generations.
