On January 7, 2026, Oasis Foundation Seattle joined hands with Hopelink to create a space where community came first at Avondale Park. Nearly 50 neighbors—many of them children—gathered for a shared dinner that felt less like an event and more like a warm reminder that we belong to each other.

The evening wasn’t defined only by the meal. What truly made it special was the atmosphere: smiles exchanged between families, kids laughing and meeting new friends, and conversations that turned strangers into neighbors. In a world that can feel increasingly disconnected, moments like this community dinner at Avondale Park show how meaningful it is to simply slow down, share food, and care for one another.

This gathering reflected what community support should look like—welcoming, local, and human. It also highlighted the power of collaboration. When a Seattle nonprofit partners with a trusted organization like Hopelink, the impact grows beyond what either could do alone. Together, we can build safe spaces where families feel seen and supported.

A heartfelt thank you to the volunteers who gave their time, energy, and kindness to make the night possible—from setup to serving to cleanup. Your service created comfort for dozens of people and helped make Avondale Park a place of connection.

Community grows where kindness leads. Oasis Foundation Seattle is grateful to Hopelink, every volunteer, and every neighbor who showed up. If you’d like to support future volunteer-led community gatherings in Seattle, we welcome you to get involved and help us keep building spaces where everyone feels they belong.
