On May 9, 2026, Oasis Foundation proudly hosted the Turkmen Food and Cultural Festival at Shoreline Community College, welcoming guests from across the region for a full day dedicated to culture, tradition, and community connection. Held from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM, the festival created a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere where people of diverse backgrounds gathered to celebrate Central Asian heritage through food, music, dance, and shared experiences.
From the moment guests entered the festival, the energy of the event reflected the spirit of hospitality and togetherness that Oasis Foundation strives to promote. Families, students, community leaders, and visitors moved through colorful cultural displays, enjoyed traditional performances, and connected with one another in a space centered on inclusion and celebration. Throughout the day, conversations, laughter, and music filled the venue, transforming the festival into more than an event — it became a meaningful community experience..
A Celebration of Culture and Tradition
The festival program featured a wide variety of cultural performances that highlighted the richness and diversity of Central Asian traditions. Guests enjoyed traditional Turkmen music and dance performances, as well as presentations representing neighboring cultures and communities. One of the most memorable moments of the day was the Turkmen wedding performance, which gave attendees a glimpse into traditional wedding customs, clothing, music, and celebration practices. The performance beautifully showcased the importance of family, hospitality, and cultural heritage within Turkmen traditions.
Throughout the festival, guests were not only spectators but active participants in the celebration. Families gathered around performances, children danced alongside the music, and visitors engaged with performers and community members throughout the day. The event created opportunities for people to learn from one another while appreciating the traditions that make every culture unique.

Authentic Food and Shared Hospitality
Food played a central role in the celebration, offering guests the opportunity to experience authentic Turkmen cuisine prepared with care and tradition. Traditional dishes brought people together around communal tables where strangers quickly became friends through shared meals and conversation. The aroma of freshly prepared food filled the venue and added to the warm and welcoming environment of the festival.
Beyond serving meals, the festival reflected the deep cultural importance of hospitality. Volunteers and community members worked throughout the day to ensure that guests felt welcomed and included. The shared experience of food became a bridge between cultures, reminding attendees that connection often begins around one table.
